TAKAFUL CLAIMS

Claims under Takaful insurance are of three types:

  • Motor
  • Non-Motor
  • Family Products

MOTOR CLAIMS UNDER TAKAFUL

This will act as a guide for motor claims and types of documents needed under various motor policy claim scenarios.

CLAIMS IN THE EVENT OF ACCIDENT

Once a car is involved in an accident, do not agree to make any payment or do not offer any settlement. Also, it is important to follow the steps below:

  • Check if the people involved in the accident are unharmed.
  • Take down personal details like name of the driver, name of the insurer of the other person/persons involved, registration number of the vehicle, and the tow truck’s registration number (if needed).
  • Take ample pictures of the accident, the areas of damage of the vehicles involved.
  • A diagram of the accident will be required by the police. It will help if you can make a rough copy so you don’t forget the exact details later on.
  • If a tow truck has to be arranged, call the Takaful assistance number.
  • It is mandatory to make a police report within 24 hours of the accident.

THEFT OF CAR

Unlike a car accident, if the insured car has been stolen, follow the steps below:

  • Within 24 hours of the car being stolen, file a police report.
  • The insurance company has to be notified immediately about the theft of the vehicle with a completed claim form and supporting documents.
  • If the vehicle is still under finance (loan), the finance or leasing company must be informed immediately as well.
